Authorship Declaration

The VIMS Journal of Health Research and Innovations (VJHRI) follows the authorship recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the publication ethics guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authorship Criteria

All listed authors must meet all of the following four ICMJE criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  2. Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  3. Final approval of the version to be published.
  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to ensure that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Individuals who contribute to the work but do not meet all four authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately but should not be listed as authors.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all authors meet the authorship criteria.
  • Obtaining approval of the final manuscript from all co-authors before submission.
  • Confirming that all authors have reviewed and approved the manuscript.
  • Serving as the primary contact with the journal during submission, peer review, publication, and post-publication.

Author Contributions

Authors are encouraged to provide an Author Contributions Statement using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy), clearly describing each author's specific contribution to the work.

Changes to Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must:

  • Be submitted in writing by the corresponding author.
  • Include a clear explanation for the proposed change.
  • Be accompanied by written consent from all authors, including any author being added or removed.

The journal will consider authorship changes in accordance with COPE guidance. Changes requested after acceptance may result in delays while the matter is reviewed.

Authorship Misconduct

The journal does not accept unethical authorship practices, including but not limited to:

  • Guest authorship
  • Ghost authorship
  • Purchased authorship
  • Misrepresentation of contributions

Suspected authorship misconduct will be investigated according to COPE recommendations and may result in manuscript rejection, publication of a correction or retraction, notification of authors' institutions, or other appropriate editorial actions.

Author Declaration

During submission, the corresponding author confirms that:

  • All listed authors satisfy the ICMJE authorship criteria.
  • No eligible contributor has been omitted.
  • The manuscript is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
  • All authors have approved the submitted version.
  • Any conflicts of interest and funding sources have been fully disclosed.
