AIMs, objectives and scope
VIMS Journal of Health Research and Innovations (VJHRI) is a peer-reviewed, open access, interdisciplinary journal publishing original scholarship across the health sciences. The journal exists to make methodologically sound health research openly available to those who generate, teach, deliver, regulate and use it.
VJHRI provides a scholarly platform for researchers, clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals, health-professions educators, health administrators, policymakers and postgraduate students to report primary research, synthesise existing evidence, evaluate innovations in practice and education, and contribute reasoned scholarly perspectives to debates in healthcare.
The journal has a particular commitment to research that addresses local, regional, rural, tribal and other underserved health needs, and to research conducted in resource-constrained settings. Such work is judged against the same internationally accepted standards of methodological rigour, ethical conduct and reporting transparency as any other submission; the journal's regional commitment concerns the questions it prioritises, never the standards it applies.
Publication objective
VJHRI seeks to promote transparent, ethical and accessible scholarly communication by making peer-reviewed research freely available to readers without access barriers. Its objective is to strengthen the translation of research findings into education, policy, clinical practice and improved health outcomes.
The journal pursues the following defined objectives:
- To publish methodologically sound original research
- To make the evidence it publishes freely and permanently available
- To provide a rigorous, fair and timely peer review process
- To advance the visibility of research from resource-constrained, rural and underserved settings,
- To uphold research integrity and publication ethics
- To strengthen scholarship in the health professions
- To disseminate evaluated innovation in healthcare
- To promote translation of evidence into practice and policy
- To build research capacity among postgraduate students, early-career faculty and clinician-researchers
- To maintain the credibility and permanence of the scholarly record by assigning a DOI to every article, depositing complete article metadata, archiving content in a recognised digital preservation service, and publishing all editorial, ethical and financial policies openly.

What the journal does not consider
VJHRI does not publish promotional or marketing material; work whose principal claims rest on data that cannot be produced for verification; studies of interventions lacking a defensible scientific rationale; or manuscripts that duplicate, in substance, work already published or under consideration elsewhere.
